Energise your Productivity
In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in managing our time. But I believe, that to truly stay productive, we need to focus on managing our energy too. When we pay attention to our energy levels, we can work more effectively, think more creatively, and avoid burnout.
This month, I look at why managing your energy is so important for productivity, with some simple tips to help you keep your energy levels up throughout the day.
Why manage your energy?
Steady Productivity - Managing your energy means knowing when you need a break. Without taking time to recharge, you can quickly burn out and see your productivity drop. A study by the Draugiem Group found that the most productive employees worked for 52 minutes followed by a 17-minute break. By taking regular breaks, you keep your energy levels steady, making it easier to get things done without feeling overwhelmed.
Better Ideas - Creativity often happens when we slow down and give our minds a chance to wander. When you take breaks and relax, you’re more likely to come up with new and innovative ideas. These moments of rest can lead to some of your best thinking, helping you solve problems and work more effectively.

How to Manage your Energy
The challenge here is that I could share 30 or 40 tips and then this wouldn’t be the quick read you prefer! So, for now, here are 4 over-riding factors for you to work on:
Take Regular Breaks - Working non-stop can drain your energy and reduce your productivity. Schedule short breaks throughout your day. Step away from your work, walk, enjoy a cup of tea, or simply sit quietly for a few minutes. These breaks help reset your mind and recharge your energy, so you can return to your tasks feeling refreshed
Practice Mindfulness - Mindfulness practices like meditation, deep breathing, and mindful eating can help you stay present and reduce stress. According to a study published in the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, employees who activated mindfulness demonstrated higher levels of engagement and productivity. These activities can help you manage your energy levels and keep you calm and focused during your workday
Spend Time Outside - Even a few minutes outdoors can boost your energy – this is a big one and makes such a difference to your approach (as well as helping your body recover from just being ‘sat’). Nature has a calming effect that can help clear your mind and recharge your spirit. Whether it’s a short walk in the park or just sitting outside during a break, try to spend some time in nature every day
Set Boundaries - One of the best ways to manage your energy is to set clear boundaries around your time and tasks. Learn to say no to things that drain your energy unnecessarily. Focus on what’s important and let go of what isn’t. This way, you can conserve your energy for the tasks that really matter
